Best Southern Living House Plans Magazine
Southern living house plans magazine – A southern ranch house is known for a spacious, single-story design. Large ranch-style homes can even be extensive, but they may seem to lack pizazz. To improve a southern ranch, change the front of the house, so it is no longer recognizable from the sidewalk, or make changes in the interior. You are not stuck with the limitations of a simple plane.
Some southern style houses are simple wide, flat and with simple roof lines. Change the exterior of the house by adding a dramatic covered entrance. Plan the construction of a cantilever that adds to the front entrance without changing the existing roof. For example, add a wooden overhang supported by wooden poles that connect with planters of the average brick wall. The door is masked by extending the entrance, and the rest of the exterior of the house is not clear on the sidewalk.
Dressing the windows on a southern house makes sense when these windows do not have external features, such as awnings, wrought iron grills or shutters. Add individual blinds in a bright color for the unique decoration on each side of each window, and finish the new look with wrought iron flower boxes. Although these improvements may not seem as dramatic as a covered entry, they are more profitable. These improvements also update the home without changing the front elevation.
